Lainey's Story.....

As a teenager I was always active, I did Netball, Badminton and Cross Country Running.  I was a healthy weight with zero body confidence issues.

When I hit my twenties the only form of exercise I did was on the dancefloor in Amadeus (a nightclub in Aberdeen that apparently had the BIGGEST dancefloor in Scotland).  My diet consisted of Irn Bru, Blue Wickeds, Chocolate Digestives and Toast, as I approached my mid-twenties I was four sizes bigger.

I found myself in the vicious dieting circle.  Starving myself, binging, slimming clubs zero self-esteem, eating to feel better then hating what I seen (AND REPEAT).

I also found started fertility treatment where nutrition, health and mindset plays a significant role in egg quality and IVF success rates.  Each failed round, saw me find comfort in food.

I started to feel constantly tired, lethargic, out of breath easily, constant migraines, poor sleep patterns and I was so self conscious on how I looked, I started going home early on nights out with my friends.

It all came to a head on the 23rd of December 2010 when I was measured for a size 18 bridesmaid dress.  I topped the scales at 86 kilos (an extremely unhealthy weight for my height),

Enough was enough.

The minute I left that bridal store, I  headed to a local Hotel Gym and signed up (too ashamed to join a mainstream gym incase someone I saw knew me).

From that day forward, I went to the gym Monday to Friday every single week, each time I stepped foot in the gym it got easier and my confidence grew.  Within four weeks the difference in my energy was unbelievable, by 8 weeks the gym had become routine and I really started to enjoy going.  I slowly started introducing new habits along the way, and started tracking my food and protein target.   Consistency was the key to my success.

In 20 weeks, I had completely overhauled my lifestyle and lost 24 kilos in weight, dropping 5 dress sizes.  I felt amazing, my confidence and self esteem had been boosted, which led to me joining a mainstream gym.  I did my first ever 10k run without stopping but the most important thing for me was all my migraines had gone, and I was sleeping 8 hours each night.

The Naysayers said "It won't last" and "She will put it all back on"

I said "What's Next?"

As I approached my 30's I started to build my confidence in the weights room, and before I knew it my physique started to change.  I became leaner, stronger and more toned.  I began to develop a love for weight training.... which led to me competing in several body building competitions and winning both the Scottish and British UKUP titles.

I then re-directed my training and started raising money for charity by running.  Did I mention I hate running?  I raised over £3.5k for Aberdeen Fertility Clinic to invest in a new embryo incubator and raised almost £2,000 for the Lily Foundation.

I also started up this Online Coaching Business formally known as Nemesis Personal Training with my sister Sharon.

I took a year out to travel the world, learned to Scuba Dive, I hiked and summitted Kilimanjaro the highest peak in Africa and the highest free standing mountain in the world.  I also did a 21-Day hike to Everest Base Camp.

What does the 40-year old Lainey enjoy now?  I still lift weights, however I prefer other forms of exercise like pilates reformer, hiking, jogging and going for long walks with my dog.  My weight and body composition has remained consistent and I am happy with what I see in the mirror and loving life!
